From the Editor’s Desk: Back on My BS, But With Boundaries

As an Angelena determined to thrive no matter the circumstance, I’ve learned one thing quickly: boundaries aren’t optional.

For those of us raised to keep the peace at all costs, the concept might take a few tries to fully grasp. But here’s the truth—anyone who’s ever built something real has had to learn how to draw the line.

A line between you and the habits, environments, and people that no longer serve you.

A line between the life you tolerate and the one you actually want.

From an early age, many of us were taught that boundaries are meant to be blurred. That dissolving into the needs of others somehow makes you good. That being the quiet, agreeable girl is how you stay loved.

But eventually, reality hits. And when it does, you realize:

Weak boundaries kill momentum.
They drain your energy.
They delay your progress.
They dull your spirit.

Time is a resource.
Energy is a resource.
And the version of you who protects both?
She’s the one who frees herself.

Honoring your boundaries doesn’t always have to feel sharp or dramatic (even though my goth Crocs send a cheeky message). Sometimes, it simply looks like:

– Not rushing to reply to texts from people who no longer align with your growth
– Using your time off for actual restoration, not guilt-fueled productivity
– Trusting your inner compass instead of outsourcing every decision
– Becoming your own best friend through books, journaling, uplifting media, and real community

The soft life is cute.
But this?
This is the sovereign life.

And she’s just getting started.
