SoCal DJ VeeeDub (Valerie Waite) is holding the torch for ravers across generations, connecting dancers through the timeless pull of disco house. Not long after her first festival experience, she knew EDM would be part of her story for seasons to come. As a Gen X DJ, producer, and promoter for Insomniac Clubs & Festivals, her passion for the local scene—and the values that sustain it—is infectious.

When asked what it takes to build real community as a DJ in a competitive industry, she didn’t hesitate:

“EDM community is built on PLUR. We’re like preachers on the pulpit of PLUR!”

VeeeDub will never forget her first time stepping onto the grounds of Electric Daisy Carnival, when she found herself in tears beneath the entrance sign that read: “All Are Welcome Here.” That moment cemented not just her love for the music, but her belief in rave culture as a place of belonging.

Her commitment to rave culture runs just as deep as her dedication to sound. That passion shines through in her latest release, “Keep Forgetting,” a disco house reimagining of the Michael McDonald track she fell in love with in the early ’80s. Collaborating with producer Nino Bellemo, she pushed the limits of her reach as a DJ—and loved every second of it.

“If someone tells you you can’t do it—who told you you can’t do it? It’s not too late until you decide it’s too late.”
